Snack Shack Volunteers Needed!!!

Volunteering to work in Mukilteo Little League's Snack Shack is a fun and easy way to make a BIG difference for our league. The new concession stand is a great facility and we did well last season, bringing in over $5,000 of net profit to support the league. We know that in our third year of operation (2018), we can do even better!

A Food Handler's Permit is required for adults to work in the Snack Shack. Snohomish County now offers a convenient online option to obtain your permit. Simply visit Snohomish County Food Worker Cards and go through the easy training at your convenience. There is a $10 fee. Please bring a copy of your permit with you to put in the binder in the Snack Shack.

If you volunteer, you can bring a child who is age 11 or older to help you. Please put in the notes if a child will be accompanying you so we know you are taking 2 slots.

Many parents have asked why we look to the league's families to volunteer in the Snack Shack. There are several reasons. First, like all other Little League organizations, Mukilteo Little League is run solely by volunteers. Board members contribute countless hours of their time to running the league and coaching. They also step up and help in the Snack Shack, but they cannot do it alone. There are over 300 shifts that need to be filled for the season. Second, a portion of the league's budgeted revenue comes from concession stand sales. Without this revenue source, the league would need to make up the difference in other ways such as higher registration fees or significantly reducing the scholarship program. Over $11,000 worth of scholarships have been awarded this year to children in our community who cannot otherwise afford to play. Our core values are to ensure that each child who wants to play has the opportunity to do so. We also have a commitment to keeping our registration fees as low as possible. The costs of running the league are over $135,000 annually and the Snack Shack revenue is a small but important part of covering those costs. Without the generosity of sponsors and donors, as well as Snack Shack revenue, the registration fees would be much higher than they are now. Third, everyone loves seeing the Snack Shack open during games, as it helps build community and makes the ball park a fun, welcoming environment for our kids. The Snack Shack has been a part of the history of Mukilteo Little League for decades and it has always been run by volunteers.

Mukilteo Little League is a 100% volunteer-driven organization. We count on parents, grandparents and friends of the league to volunteer and ensure that the league provides a high quality experience for our young players. There are many areas to volunteer:

  • team parent/volunteer

  • scorekeeping
  • and more!

Coaching Applications

Coaching applications for the 2017 season are now open for baseball and softball. The MLL Board of Directors has implemented the following changes to make the Coaching application/registration easier and PAPERLESS!!

1) All Coaching applications/registrations must be submitted online via the Bonzi System (go to Member Login) .

2) Background Checks. During your application/registration you will prompted to submit a background check application. No background check data is stored in the Bonzi System. Background check data is encrypted and sent directly Bonzi's background check partner Reference Services Inc. This is the only background check that Mukilteo Little League will utilize. Once completed, your background check will be good for 12 months. Only individuals who have completed the background check will be able to Coach in the 2016 Little League season.

3) Coaches Code of Conduct. You will read and accept your coaches code of conduct as part of your application/registration.

4) All assistant coaches must register as an assistant coach and submit a background check, just like coaches.

5) Any person who provides regular service to the league and/or has repetitive access to or contact with players or teams must register as a volunteer in the Bonzi system, just like coaches.

All Coaching applications require approval by the MLL Board of Directors. All coaches are required to attend one of two league sponsored required safety classes to be held in February or March 2017.
