2025 Summer Ball Information

Mukilteo Little League and Pacific Little League are partnering to put together our Summer Ball program. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and the games are still competitive. It is a great opportunity to get out on the field and play with your friends and enjoy the best weather the pacific northwest can offer. Summer Ball is a more casual extension of the regular season. There are two games a week on weeknights and no practices. Players will play the same division they played in the spring. Players from all over the district are welcome to play. We plan to offer the following divisions this summer:

Tee Ball: (League Age is the player’s age as of 8/31 of this year)

  • Tee Ball Division – Boys and Girls Ages 5 & 6

Baseball Divisions: (League Age is the player’s age as of 8/31 of this year)

  • Rookie – Machine-Pitch Division – Primarily for league ages 7 & 8 who played Rookie Baseball in the spring. 6-year-olds who play Rookie Baseball in the spring will be allowed to play Rookie Baseball.
  • Farm Division (89ers) – League Ages 8 & 9. Majority 9-year-olds. Combination coach and player pitch.
  • Minors/Majors Divisions – Primarily league ages 10-12. Minors and Majors will be combined and use Minors rules. 9-year-olds who played Minors will be allowed to play Minors/Majors.

Note: If there is a large enough player pool for separate Minors and Majors Divisions, then Minors division will be League Ages 9*, 10, and 11, while Majors division will be League Ages 10*, 11 and 12.

Softball Divisions: (League Age is the player’s age as of 12/31 of the previous year)

  • Rookie – Coach-Pitch Division – League ages 6, 7, and 8 who played Rookie Baseball in the spring.

Yes, there will be softball with the same divisions as baseball. League age is different than for baseball. Age is based on the 2025 Little League Softball age chart (reference Player Eligibility).

Can I play with my friend?
Yes! Players can request friends and coaches. We encourage players to sign up with a friend who they may not have had the opportunity to play with during the regular season. We will try to honor as many request as possible without compromising competitive balance. Rosters are built with great care, mindful of players' skill levels, and are evenly balanced between older players and younger players. You will have fun and make new friends no matter what team you are on!

How much does Summer Ball cost?
2025

Who are the Coaches?
Spring teams are highly encouraged to register to stay together and continue the fun playing in the summer. As with the Little League Spring season, Summer Ball coaches are all volunteers who give many hours of their time to help. We always need more coaches, assistants, and umpires for summer. If that interests you, contact us and register to help with Summer Ball team this year!

Are there practices?
Coaches have the option of scheduling one "get to know you" practice before the summer season starts, but there are no practices thereafter. If for some reason a game is cancelled the coaches are encouraged to keep the time and have a practice instead as there rescheduling is unlikely for summer.

How many players are on a team?
Summer Ball teams are made up of 12-15 players in order to accommodate absence due to busy family summer schedules.

What rules are enforced, especially regarding pitching?
Summer Ball uses the standard MLL Minors (9-12) and Rookie (7-8) division rules. In the 9–12-year-old division, pitchers are limited to a maximum of two innings per week, and there is limited pitching by 12-year-old players. Your child's coach will have a more complete set of rules and summer-specific guidelines.

My child has never played ball before. Is Summer Ball a good starting point for them?
Yes! The Summer Ball program is designed for more of a "neighborhood pickup game" feel, and players do not receive the structured and intentional developmental experience that they would during the regular season. However, many players have begun their softball and baseball careers in Summer Ball and are thriving today!

Can my child play up a division in Summer?
Playing up in Summer Ball is generally discouraged. To ensure competitiveness between leagues and teams we do not want players to learn to play at the next level without any practices and when other players have been playing all spring at that level. Special exceptions may be made with an assessment, but we do not have time or resources to do assessments for summer. It is expected that players will play in the same division they played in spring and that players who have not played will play in an age-appropriate division.

Will  the Snack Shack be open?
The snack shack will be open all summer and we will continue with our expanded menu as long as we have the volunteers to keep it open! The league needs you to sign up to volunteer. If you are interested in helping out with the Snack Shack, please email [email protected]  and [email protected].

Free Hot Dogs?
One of the most highly anticipated parts of summer ball is the Free Hot Dogs Night at Mukilteo Little League. This year it will be on Tuesday nights starting at 5pm. Jim Tinsley Real Estate has graciously agreed to sponsor this for one more year. Jim provides free hot dogs for everyone at the Mukilteo Little League Complex every Tuesday night! Just show up and enjoy a free Famous MLL Dog! We are looking for someone to take on this or a similar sponsorship next year and beyond. If you are interested, please reach out!

There’s a movie night too?
Yes! Following the final night of the summer season, Field 1 transforms into a movie theater for the evening and league sponsor Jim Tinsley – Real Estate, presents The Sandlot on a large screen for everyone to enjoy.

How do I register?
Register online at www.mukilteolittleleague.com. Registration will open on May 1. The deadline to register is June 21. Late registrations may be allowed depending on registration numbers and teams counts. Please register early!

How do I coach Summer Ball?
We are looking for coaches for our Summer Ball teams this year. Summer Ball has a different vibe from the regular season and the requirements of a coach are different. We are looking for coaches who are ready to keep it light and loose, to give new opportunities to players, to help develop their skills and help them succeed, and most of all to have fun!

Who do I contact with questions?
Darin Goodpaster is our coordinator for Summer Ball. E-mail any questions to [email protected].
